These kaleidoscopes have been collaged with handmade and specialty papers, bits and pieces of images, plant materials, etc. to create a colorful, dimensional work on the outside, with coordinating colors on the inside. Available themes include:
Music- musical scores, grace notes, and dimensional designs, with the Shakespearean quote, "If music be the food of love, play on."
Time - images of watches and clocks, decorative papers, dimensional designs, definitions of time, and watch parts decorate the exterior of this kaleidoscope tube, including the phrase, "Carpe Diem".
Seashells - images of seashells, sandscapes, decorative papers, dimensional designs and seashells decorate the exterior of this kaleidoscope tube.
Travel - maps, decorative papers, images of travel and foreign postage stamps are included with the quotations, "Where am I going? How will I get there: Do you know the way? The best directions in life are not found on a map."
Because I design kaleidoscopes with tubes of brass, wood or covered with surface design, they are wonderfully lightweight. The scope itself includes a magnifying lens, which produces a full, focused image to enjoy. An optical quality 3-mirror system, and a free falling chamber filled with various bits and pieces means that there are no moving parts in my scope designs. One simply rotates the whole tube to enjoy a changing pattern. This enables the mirror system inside to be as large as possible, to maximize what is viewed in the object chamber. These may include antique or new bugle beads, flameworking, millefiori, glass fragments, decorative beads, and twisted wire. There is no way to make two identical kaleidoscopes; each one is unique!
